Allegations surface that selective candidates were promoted from a public stage during a musical night event, violating election rules and disrupting the level playing field.
BHOPAL — Advocate Anurag Dubey, a candidate contesting for the post of Secretary in the District Bar Association, Bhopal Elections (2026–2028), has submitted a written complaint to the Chief Election Officer. In his memorandum, he alleged that certain candidates were campaigned for from a public stage in direct violation of the election code of conduct and established rules.
According to the complaint, during a 'Musical Night' event organized by the Bhopal Advocate Musical Group on July 3 at Hindi Bhawan, located near Polytechnic Square, banners and posters of a few selective candidates were displayed. Furthermore, their photographs and promotional materials were repeatedly flashed on the LED screen installed on the stage. A large number of advocates were present at the event.

Anurag Dubey alleged in his complaint that this event directly violated Point-19 of the nomination guidelines and Rule-6 of the election code of conduct. He stated that the attempt to influence voters by promoting only a limited number of candidates from a public platform compromised the principle of a level playing field for all other contestants.
Through his complaint, Dubey has urged the Chief Election Officer to investigate the entire matter thoroughly and take appropriate action against the violating candidates and the respective organizers as per the rules. He also requested that steps be taken to ensure no public or collective event is used for election campaigning in the future, thereby maintaining a fair and unbiased electoral environment for everyone.
Anurag Dubey emphasized that he is strictly adhering to the election code of conduct himself and expects all candidates to follow the prescribed rules equally. He expressed confidence that prompt action on his complaint would further reinforce the impartiality of the election committee and strengthen the trust of the advocates.
