India Cricket Schedule 2026: T20 World Cup, New Zealand and England Tours

India’s national cricket teams will have a very busy year in 2026, playing multiple major tournaments and series around the world. The schedule includes the T20 World Cup, tours against New Zealand and England, and many more international matches.

1. India vs New Zealand Tour (January 2026)

India will start their 2026 cricket season at home against New Zealand. This limited overs series will include:

  • 3 ODI matches starting on January 11 in Vadodara, January 14 in Rajkot and January 18 in Indore.

  • 5 T20 International matches, beginning on January 21 in Nagpur, January 23 in Raipur, January 25 in Guwahati, January 28 in Visakhapatnam and January 31 in Thiruvananthapuram. 

This series will help India prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup. 

2. ICC T20 World Cup 2026 (February–March)

One of the biggest events in the year will be the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The tournament starts on 7 February and runs until 8 March 2026. Twenty teams will compete for the trophy. 

India begins its title defence on February 7 with a match against the United States in Mumbai. They will also play Namibia, Pakistan and Netherlands in the group stage. 

3. Indian Premier League (March–May)

After the T20 World Cup, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will take place from March through May. This franchise tournament will feature the best players from around the world. 

4. England Tour (July 2026)

In July, Team India will tour England for a series of matches abroad. The tour is expected to include eight games in total, with a mix of T20Is and ODIs against the England team. 

This will test India’s ability in foreign conditions as they play some of the best teams in the world.

5. Other Tours and Matches

India’s schedule may also include:

  • A tour of Sri Lanka later in the year.

  • A series in New Zealand with Test and ODI matches.

  • Matches in the Asian Games 2026 if cricket events are included.

  • Possible further bilateral series with teams like Afghanistan and West Indies later in the year. 

Both the men’s and women’s teams are expected to be active throughout 2026 with full calendars.

What This Means for Indian Cricket

2026 will be one of the busiest and most important years for Team India. A strong performance at the T20 World Cup and on overseas tours will be key ahead of the 2027 50-over World Cup cycle. Top players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill as well as the women’s team stars Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana will all have major roles to play.
