of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, United Nations
Environment Programme, Godrej Industries Group will flag off the World
Environment Day 2026 Tree Plantation Drive under the campaign #NowForClimate,
with Godrej L’Affaire as the digital amplification partner for the
initiative.
This initiative marks the beginning of a large-scale
effort to enhance Mumbai’s green cover and reinforce collective responsibility
toward environmental sustainability. The campaign aims to mobilize citizens,
youth, and communities to actively participate in climate-positive actions,
starting with a focused tree plantation movement across key locations in the
city.
The flag-off event will be graced by leading public
figures and advocates of environmental awareness, including Malaika Arora,
Sachiin J Joshi, Sadia Khateeb, Shaan, Shehnaaz Gill, Rupali Ganguly, and Seema
Singh, whose presence will amplify the message of urgent and collective
climate action.
Speaking about the initiative, representatives from the
Bhamla Foundation emphasized that tree plantation is not just a symbolic act
but a long-term commitment to restoring ecological balance, improving air
quality, and creating sustainable urban ecosystems. The campaign is designed to
inspire individuals and organizations alike to take immediate and measurable
climate action.
Sujit Patil, Chief Communications Officer,
Godrej Industries Group said, “At Godrej industries, we
see ourselves as enablers of conversations and actions that can drive real
change. The #NowForClimate Tree Plantation Drive is a powerful example of what
collective intent can achieve when institutions, communities, and individuals
come together with a purpose. This partnership reflects our shared commitment
to enhance the green cover and encouraging wider participation by citizens in
these efforts. If we want to create lasting impact, it has to start with
actions we take today.”
Aligned with the global theme of World Environment Day,
this initiative reinforces India’s commitment to environmental stewardship and
supports the broader agenda of climate resilience and sustainable
development.
The Tree Plantation Drive is the first step in a series
of impactful activities planned under the #NowForClimate campaign, encouraging
citizens to move beyond awareness and actively contribute to a greener,
healthier future.
