initiative to accelerate adoption of electric commercial vehicles (CV) to
improve air quality in Delhi-NCR~
New Delhi : Montra
Electric, India's full-spectrum electric commercial vehicle brand,
today signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road
Transport & Highways (MoRTH) under the
Government of India’s Scheme for support to the National
Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) policy for
replacement of old trucks and buses in the National Capital Region. The MoUs
with MoRTH were signed by Montra Electric’s eMHCV and eSCV businesses, organised
in New Delhi.
This NCRPB policy is designed to facilitate the
replacement of ageing, polluting CVs operating in the region. This early
adoption of electric CVs aims to improve of air quality through zero vehicular
emissions and support India’s broader decarbonisation objectives. Both Montra entities
will support eligible fleet operators and customers by offering their solutions,
helping accelerate the transition towards cleaner freight movement across the
region.
This initiative aligns with Montra Electric's
broader mission of delivering purpose-built electric mobility solutions across
commercial vehicle segments. With dedicated product portfolios spanning medium
and heavy-duty electric trucks through the Rhino series and small commercial electric trucks through EVIATOR, the company is well positioned to
address the evolving needs of fleet operators seeking sustainable
transportation solutions.
The Government's replacement scheme is expected to
play a pivotal role in reducing emissions from legacy ICE commercial vehicles
operating in one of India's most polluted regions, while creating a conducive
ecosystem for faster adoption of electric trucks.
